End of the Pretence
A message from the webmaster:
I originally set up Miranda-Cosgrove.net because I wanted to honour Miranda, to build a professionally run site and have fun doing it. I've always loved web-development and meeting new people as part of that. For a while it was going fine, but that has changed.
Over the past six months I have been far too busy with various other projects: other more popular websites, my novel, my physics and music study etc. I simply haven't had time to update the site with any kind of regularity.
I feel really sad typing this, because I really wanted to keep it up. But it's just getting silly now.
If somebody wants to take over the reigns of this site, please contact me at dwood2001 AT gmail DOT com. I have the following requirements and guidelines:
- You must either be willing to pay for the hosting and domain (I will transfer it to you), or else understand that it is owned by me and I can therefore do as I wish with it. I love Miranda and so if you buy the site, it will be transferred for free. (Even though a domain with these kinds of hits could fetch a really nice price.)
- You must really be a fan of Miranda's.
- You must treat it as a merger, rather than a full take-over. What I mean by this is, you must at least try to keep the members of the current forums. This can be done by either taking over and running the forums as they are or by putting up an announcement there are later merging them with your new forums.
- You must have the expertise and ability to run a site like this. I need absolute proof of this if I'm going to give it you for free. You have to understand CSS, HTML and ideally PHP. You also have to have excellent English writing skills and know how forums work.
- I wish and advise that you run it in a professional style. This means that layouts should be easy to read with very dark coloured text on light backgrounds, or very light coloured text on dark backgrounds. This also means that newsposts should be written in a journalistic style.
- Forums should be run consistently, with rules that you understand and stick to firmly.
- You should never ever be rude to other sites and organisations, however rude they may be to you. It is important to be above that kind of thing.
Until I'm happy with a replacement, I'll keep the site open as it is and also see what the response is.
If I don't find someone appropriate, I may consider selling the domain. I'd rather not keep paying for it if I'm not going to use it properly. I won't keep the offer open forever.
This is sad for me, but it's obviously the right decision. I apologise to those of you who did keep visiting the site regularly and most of all I apologise to Miranda. I'll always be your fan and supporter and I'm sorry for not doing you justice.
So long everyone.

Miranda isn't fazed by iCarly
Miranda was recently quoted as saying she isn't at all fazed by the 40 ordered episodes of iCarly. She also gave details about the filming schedule and described it as the "coolest idea":
"[Miranda] notes that the cast and crew do
three weeks on, one week off of production.
[..] "On our weeks off we do the online stuff,"
explains Cosgrove. "It's kind of like a reality
show our characters are putting on the
website so kids can upload their own videos.
It's the coolest idea and the first of its kind."
"The cool thing about Carly is she always has
an idea and she's self-confident and loves to
express herself." She's also usually the voice
of reason on the show, something Cosgrove
says she most definitely is not. "In real life
I'm kind of more the crazy one, so it's fun to
get to play a character not so much like me."

Site Downtime & Belated Happy Birthday
No, we haven't dropped off the face of the planet. In fact Miranda-Cosgrove.net has been the target of an attack, using the scripts on our site to send spam email to people. As such, our scripting was shut down and the whole site ground to a halt. Add to that the fact that some emails went missing, and that I had exams to revise for, and it lasted far longer than it should have. Apologies.
So, we wish Miranda a very late Happy Birthday! Hopefully the package from Miranda-Cosgrove.net will get to her soon.

Fan Award Winner
After considering two months of entries for M-C.net's first fan award, we finally have a winner. To enter you were asked to answer the question: "Where do you see Miranda's future going and why?"
There were some good responses, but one in particular stood out, and that was Laura's entry which can be seen here. To celebrate this being our first fan award, she has won a copy of Drake and Josh Go
Hollywood on DVD.
Honourable mentions go to Luke, Flash and Ashe who also made good entries.
Remember, there are plenty more fan awards to come, and though future awards won't come with a prize, the person who has the best entries overall will win an even bigger prize at the end of the year and be crowned the winner of M-C.net's #1 Fan Competition 07/08.
The question for May/June is: If you could ask Miranda any question, what would you ask and why? Entries should be 100 words or longer. You can enter the competition here.

Miranda's Birthday
As most of you will be aware, Miranda's birthday is only a month away. As such, we are now pleased to announce (as some have asked) that we will indeed be sending a package to Miranda from M-C.net. This will include a small gift and a letter introducing the site to her (as this is our first year).
If you would like us to include your birthday message to Miranda in this package, please use the form provided on this page.
Although this year it isn't officially a scrapbook project, any art, letters or other contributions you'd like to make are still more than welcome. They can either be emailed to david@miranda-cosgrove.net or sent to our UK address (by airmail if in the USA). If you'd like to send your entry by post then please email us and the address will be passed on. We won't be putting it online for security reasons, and it is not possible to get a PO Box at this time.
All submissions must be received by the 7th of May, which is three weeks away.
Thank you for any and all contributions. We're sure Miranda will be very happy to receive them.

More on iCarly
A New York Times article has surfaced with more details about iCarly. It also includes some interesting insights into the way Nickelodeon is run and is well worth reading. It talks a lot about Dan Schneider, who is the man behind iCarly. His shows have been so successful in the past that iCarly is likely to be another huge hit.
When Sam “photo-docs” the head of her and
Carly’s least favorite teacher onto the body of
a rhinoceros and posts it all over the school,
Carly takes the rap in order to spare Sam a
suspension. But Carly’s own punishment comes
in an odd form: the teacher makes her give up
a Saturday to monitor auditions for the school’s
talent show. Carly’s lovestruck neighbor, Freddy,
agrees to tape the auditions for them — and then
accidentally posts the outtakes online, including
footage of Carly and Sam cutting up at the
teacher’s expense. But when the footage
becomes an unexpected YouTube-like sensation
— and when the teacher rejects all their
talent-show selections as “inappropriate” — they
are inspired to make their accidental Webcast a
regular gig, and “iCarly,” the show within a show,
is born.
“I just hate it,” Carly says in the pilot’s key scene,
“when adults like her get to control what kids can
do and see. It ticks me off!”
The writer also got a chance to meet Miranda and gave a wonderful account of it later in the article, including some comments from Dan Schneider:
“She’s a star,” Schneider said. “She is one of the
classiest little girls that I’ve ever met. I don’t
believe I’ve ever heard her complain about
anything, I don’t think I’ve seen her in a bad mood
once in my life, and I’ve done 61 episodes of
television with her. I really avoid the overly trained
Hollywood kid, the kids that are 10 years old and
have had eight years of acting and dancing and
singing lessons and they’re so cute and precocious
and perfect that you want to slit your wrists.
Miranda’s the real deal; there’s nothing Hollywood
about her.”
“She loves vintage clothing,” a publicist whispered
to me on the set; she checked to see if I was writing
it down. “I don’t know if she has any pets at this point.”
She was utterly delightful and charming and friendly
and cooperative, and yet it was still a strange
experience. I am used to getting spun by kids, but
not to getting spun by kids in such a manifestly adult
way: her performance would surely have earned her
an A in Nick’s Talent 101. Even her friendships seemed
to have a preternaturally adult quality; they were,
after all, office friendships. She had known most of her
co-stars for only a couple of weeks; “I’ve seen Jennette
at auditions before,” she said, “because we’re practically
the same age, but I’ve only said hi to her. She’s really
fun, and so’s Nathan [Kress, who plays Freddy]. This is
actually my first time meeting both of them, and it’s
already like we’re best friends.”
“Sometimes I get kind of bored if I go like a month or
so and I’m not doing anything,” Miranda said. “At first I’m
like, ‘Cool, I’ll have a little time off and I’ll get to hang out
with friends,’ but then after a little while goes by I’m like,
‘Oh,’ and I really wish that I could go back and start doing
work again. It’s just a blast to get to come in to the set and
say hi to everyone and work with the people you know. After
a few months it seems like everybody’s like family.”
Miranda lives an unusual life, but it would be pure
sentimentality to feel sorry for her in the light of “normal”
experiences she may have missed. Nobody seems to be
exploiting her or living through her; her childhood has been
bent to her gifts. There is nothing fake about her — there
doesn’t have to be, for in the context of her life, she’s good
at everything she does. When our interview was over, she
looked relieved, and also somewhat pleasantly surprised.
“That was easy,” she said.
The article also mentioned that the testers of the show gave it wonderful marks:
"Twenty-seven of 32 youngsters gave “iCarly” a grade of
A or A+."

Miranda to Star in Nickelodeon Show iCarly
It has been announced by a multitude of sources, this one being the earliest, that Miranda is to star in her own show on Nickelodeon. It is being produced by Dan Schneider and is set to air in September.
The show is to be titled iCarly and will be a comedy series centred around Miranda's character Carly and her home-made webcasts. It comes as a surprise to Carly when her webcasts become a phenomenon with kids everywhere.
iCarly will be the first show to include content submitted by viewers (kids) as part of the regular programming. This automatically gives it more press than a lot of new kids shows would get. As such, information is surfacing about the show rapidly. Some of the highlights are quoted below.
During the course of the series, Carly will give
viewers a specific assignment that relates to the
context of a particular show. Kids will be directed
to a website to post their kid created original
content, which may be either scripted into a
future iCarly episode or become part of Carly's
web cast online. Nickelodeon has green-lit 13
episodes of the comedy series.
- CNN
Miranda lives with her twenty-something
brother/guardian Spencer (Jerry Trainor) and
produces her web casts from a makeshift third-floor
loft studio. Grappling with adolescence, she never
aimed to gain fame as a rising star/underground
celebrity to kids. As events unfold in the pilot, it
all happens by accident when a teacher (guest star
Mindy Sterling, Austin Powers' Frau Farbissina) puts
her in charge of the school talent show. She and her
sassy best bud Sam (Jeannette McCurdy) turn the
audition process into a show, which Carly's tech savvy
smitten friend Freddy (Nathan Kress) tapes -- including
their hilarious banter and great chemistry -- and posts
on the web unbeknownst to them. The online audience
clamors for more, and a pop phenomenon blooms, with
Miranda and sidekick Sam's regular web casts ultimately
featuring everything from comedy sketches and talent
contests to interviews, recipes and problem-solving.

Last year both won these very same awards, making it a very successful year for Drake and Josh. As usual voting will be possible via Nick.com and opens on the 5th of March, but this year you will be able to vote with your mobile phone as well so there's no excuse not to support the show! The awards ceremony will be held at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion on March the 31st.
Congratulations to Miranda and all who have worked on Drake and Josh.

Updates
Firstly, a quick apology. The site hasn't been updated much in the last few weeks due to busyness. While there was little that could have been done about this, and as far as we're aware there hasn't been any news about Miranda in that time, please be assured this will be a rare occurance.
Those of you who are particularly observant might have noticed there were in fact some small updates, for example we have a new quiz in the interact section. This weekend we have also just added two new pages to the Miranda section and a previous polls page to the interact section.
In the next few weeks we hope to finally get our gallery up and running. It's proving to be a tough job to get as many pictures as possible, get permission to use them from various sources and also get screencaps and such. But hopefully it'll be completed before long.

Interview: A sock, a journal and a big ol' puppy...
A video interview from the premiere of Yours, Mine and Ours has been added to the media section, a transcript of which can be found here.
In this new interview Miranda talks about the craziest thing a fan has done, tells us that she wants a "big ol' puppy" for Christmas (2005), and when asked for something even her number one fan wouldn't know, she says she keeps a journal and has a burn box for secrets she's heard about people:
I do have a journal, that I write all my
thoughts in every day. So that's kind
of something. I also have a burn box
where I write secrets down and put it
in a box.

Miranda-Cosgrove.net Grand Opening
Welcome everyone to the newest fansite for School of Rock and Drake and Josh star Miranda Cosgrove.
While a few parts of the site are very much under construction, we have a lot of new content on its way in the coming weeks and months. We're very much committed to bringing Miranda fans closer together and encouraging activity and discussion. Sometimes there might not be any Miranda news, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to do! With competitions, games, discussions and friendships formed, this fandom could become more active than ever.
Want to help the site grow? Then why not visit the interact section, where your opinions can be included on the site. Are you an artist? Then go ahead and submit your Miranda graphics to the art section. We're also looking for several staffers to help with the site, this includes a head of graphics and some content builders, see the jobs page for details.
Finally I invite you to look around. Feel free to contact us with comments or suggestions as this site is for the fans, for all of you. Enjoy!
